Book Review – From Vision to Exit
Guy Rigby is clearly highly regarded by entrepreneurs. His book, From Vision to Exit, earned fulsome praise from James Caan to Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, and from Kanya King to Luke Johnson.
It isn?t often that the words ?chartered accountant? and ?stimulating? go together but in this, his first book, Rigby breaks the stereotype by sharing lessons from a varied and colourful career, which has included directing businesses in the IT, property, defence, manufacturing and retail sectors and working as an entrepreneur mentor in his current role at Smith & Williamson.
A manual for business success, From Vision to Exit includes everything from branding to people management and from business planning to business acquisition. Rigby?s clear and candid approach is supported with relatable examples ? such as those of Amazon, Skype and Apple ? as well as drawing on the wealth of wisdom of his entrepreneurial contributors.
Particularly helpful are the top tips which summarise each chapter and the bullet points throughout that provide a guide for, for example, recruiting new staff or defining your target market. Furthermore, Rigby does not tell you the way he thinks things should be done but uses his experience to provide an informed analysis of different options, so that you have the insight to make a decision which is right for your business.
Covering topics from the conceptual (developing vision) to the commercial (overseas expansion) this book will be as empowering for the first-time entrepreneur as for the established business owner ? a one-stop-shop for everything you ever needed to know about business.
