“‘British’ Prime Minster Gordon Brown insisted during the passage of the last Finance Act (yep, that is the Budget) that he saw the value of annuities in providing a guaranteed income and that he did not want to see the £8bn or so in tax relief granted each year to pension fund contributions frittered away by using other means of providing pension income. How ironic then that he is so sanguine about his Government wasting £101 BILLIONS on things of far less worth than people’s pensions as is shown in ‘The Bumper Book of Government Waste’, which is being published on 24 September.”
