Back in 1994, self-styled mediocre broker Jim Parton penned a hilarious memoir of his rise and fall in the markets – The Bucks Stop Here.

The ex-public schoolboy had lost everything – his job at Merrill Lynch and glamorous Japanese wife.

Gadfly wrote a kindly review, had a beer with the author and wondered what happened to him.

Thanks to a new edition, we know that Parton is in Poland, where he and his second wife ‘are restoring a small palace’.

We just love that ‘small’.
